SAT or ACT?

Use scores, student preference, and testing context to choose a useful starting point.

Compare results.
Then consider the student.

  1. Start with both scores.

Use concordance to see how a full SAT result compares with a full ACT result. A clearly stronger result usually points to the better starting exam.

  2. Close results? Consider preference.

When results are relatively equal, the exam the student prefers can help decide.

  3. Consider state testing.

A state-provided SAT or ACT can make one route simpler. Your school’s testing arrangements may vary.
